Telefonica, Samsung conduct 5G-based tourism demo in Segovia

Wednesday 8 May 2019 | 08:50 CET | News
Telefonica and Samsung have joined forces with Segovia city council to present a new use case based on 5G technology in the historic Spanish city. The trial saw the two companies team up with Natoural Digital Solutions to create an app that uses Microsoft's mixed reality HoloLens glasses to transport visitors back to the time of Spain's Catholic Monarchs, Queen Isabella I of Castile and King Ferdinand II of Aragon. The augmented reality app uses the city's "4.9G" and 5G networks to display 3D content at selected spots, including the Alcazar, the Plaza Mayor and the Puerta de San Martin.
