Telefonica announced that it has secured a refund for excess tax paid in Spain between 2008 and 2011. In a statement to Spanish securities market regulator CNMV, the company said the local tax authorities have been ordered to refund the company EUR 702 million following its claims regarding the amount of corporate income tax it paid during the period. The claims were previously upheld in part in a preliminary decision issued in January by Spain's central administrative economic court.
