Telefonica Spain raised EUR 130 mln from copper cable sales last year

Friday 20 August 2021 | 11:49 CET | News
Telefonica Spain last year gained a total of EUR 131 million from the sale and recycling of copper cables replaced with fibre, reports El Pais. The company last year accelerated plans to shut down copper plants that are no longer in use due to the rapid expansion of its FTTH network and has taken advantage of soaring copper prices due to high demand from China to sell unused cabling. In total, Telefonica has removed 65,000 tons of cable, recycled 7,140 tons of electronic waste and reused over 128,000 network cards since 2015, said the report.
