Telefonica to cut Spanish fibre rollout by 20% - report

Telefonica will cut its investment in Spanish fibre optic infrastructure by 20 percent this year as a result of the imminent approval of new fixed broadband regulations by communications regulator CNMC, reports business daily Expansion. The main proposal included in the CNMC's long-delayed review of the fixed broadband market is to require Telefonica to share access to its fibre-optic network in all of Spain apart from cities in which three or more companies are already offering superfast internet via fibre or cable connections.
