Telefonica to slow down fibre rollout this year- report

Telefonica will slow down the pace of its fibre-optic rollout in Spain in the final quarter of the year due to regulatory uncertainty, reports Spanish business daily Expansion. The operator will finally expand its fibre-optic network to reach 14 million households by the end of 2015, compared to its original target of 16 million homes, said the report, adding that Telefonica has had to adjust its plans while it waits for the CNMC to finalise its review of the fixed broadband market. According to recent reports, the regulator is set to tone down the sweeping changes it originally proposed,
