Telefonica to use Jasper for M2M service platform
Telefonica will use a platform from Jasper Wireless to power its Telefonica Control Center service to connect M2M and consumer electronic devices, set to launch on 1 January 2011. Telefonica said its service will enable M2M enterprise customers and device manufacturers to connect and manage embedded mobile devices, advancing their design and market introduction. Consumer devices include PNDs, e-readers, digital photo frames, cameras, and gaming. Enteprise applications to benefit from automation and advanced control features will benefit sectors such as automotive, smart grid, tracking, security and mobile healthcare. "With Jasper Wireless's support, Telefonica is ready to offer tailored services to its enterprise customers, including flexible business models, real-time monitoring and diagnostics, and enhanced customer support", said Carlos Morales, global M2M director, Telefonica.The deal's financial agreements were not disclosed.
