Telefonica, unions reach deal in technician pay row

Spanish trade unions CCOO and UGT have issued a joint statement announcing that Telefonica has agreed to amend technician contracts after a long-running strike by subcontracted workers of the company. Under the terms of the deal, Telefonica has accepted a 2.15 percent rise in the scales of activity of the ADSL and fibre installers so that their salaries can be increased to levels higher than 2014. The subcontracted workers have been on an 'indefinite strike' against low pay, contract conditions and lack of protection since 28 March. Strikers in Barcelona even occupied the Movistar
