Telegram faces German investigation into reporting criminal activity

The German Federal Office of Justice has opened two proceedings against Telegram, according to a spokeswoman quoted by Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. The proceedings could lead to a fine. She said the office, which comes under the Ministry of Justice and is responsible for international legal matters, opened the proceedings over the lack of an identifiable and immediately accessible reporting channel for criminal content as required by the Network Enforcement Act, and lack of any named, authorised recipient for German court orders.
