Telekom plans supervectoring launch in 2018

Telekom Deutschland will continue to focus on the roll-out of FTTC and new VDSL technologies through the end of 2019, before considering alternatives, its CTO Walter Goldenits said in an interview posted on YouTube. This will include the start of 'supervectoring' in 2018, which offers speeds up to 300 Mbps over short distances of around 300m. Goldenits defended the operator's choice to focus on FTTC, and leave FTTH to new-build areas, saying the company was still investing more in fibre in Germany than anyone else.
