Telekom to downgrade 30K VDSL connections after failure to reach deal with EWE

Deutsche Telekom is downgrading over 30,000 VDSL connections in the German state of Lower Saxony to DSL speeds after the company failed to reach a rental agreement for VDSL lines with regional operator EWE Tel, reported Heise Online. The affected customers have been told their service contract with Telekom will be terminated at the end of its term if they don't agree to switch to a different broadband connection. Telekom customers said their connection will be downgraded from 50 Mbps to 16 Mbps as a result, said Heise. The dispute arose after Telekom and regional operator EWE were unable to
