Telenet asked to stop charging for HD decoders

Telenet has told customers they have until September to exchange their SD digital decoders for a new HD one for EUR 79, Datanews reported. Tests-Achats/Test-Aankoop responded in a letter to the operator, saying the new decoders should be offered free of charge. The Belgian consumer group said customers are again being faced with a unalienable fact, with no further choice of option, and has asked customers to sign their petition. such audacity of telenet to switch off the SD signals and letting consumers pay for once again another form of vendor lock-in. I've got the feeling telenet won't be able to boast much longer of its high number of digital subscribers, let alone their stunning ARPU's. It seems like telenet is making one blunder after the other in the last couple of years. You really cannot overemphasize the importance of customer retention, so it's hard to understand why telenet doesn't offer free set-top-box replacements.
