Telenet begins using own mobile network
Belgian cable operator Telenet began using its own mobile network on 11 October. Since its launch in 2006, Telenet has been using the radio and core network of Mobistar. The operators will continue to manage antennas/sites together, while Telenet will continue to manage its own sales, marketing and billing processes. With the move on 11 October, Telenet customers will get a new SIM card. Market watchers see Telenet as the favourite candidate for the fourth Belgian 3G licence, still on the shelf due to a political standstill at the federal level. The cable operator has also been testing an LTE network.
