Telenet starts second brand Tadaam for home broadband, TV over 4G network

Belgian operator Telenet has quietly launched a new brand called Tadaam to offer broadband and TV services over the mobile network for residential customers.

Tadaam promises unlimited TV and internet over the company's Base mobile network. No installation is required, customers only need to plug in the mobile router. No fixed contract is required either, as the service can be cancelled on a monthly basis. In addition, the modem can be used outside the home, for mobile internet.

Two subscriptions are available. The basic plan costs EUR 40 per month for unlimited internet at up to 30 Mbps and HD TV with 30 channels for one screen, including pause live TV and recording. For another EUR 10 per month, customers receive a maximum speed of 50 Mbps and can watch the TV service on up to three screens simultaneously.

The TV service is delivered as an online stream to be watched on smart TVs, Chromecast, mobile devices, Apple TV and tablets.

The new service allows Telenet to offer its home broadband and TV services throughout Belgium, outside its cable network in Flanders and Brussels. It already faces growing competition in its home market, after it was forced to open up its cable network on a wholesale basis to rival Orange. Earlier this year it launched an OTT TV service bundled with fixed broadband and mobile services for EUR 100, called Yugo
