Telenor, Tele2 to expand LTE network to 100 localities

Swedish mobile carriers Telenor Sweden and Tele2 Sweden plan to expand their joint LTE network to 100 new localities within 18 months. The network is expected to cover 99 percent of the Swedish population by end-2013, starting with densely populated areas. The expansion is performed by Telenor and Tele2's joint venture Net4Mobility, with LTE network deployment from Huawei. By 2011-12, users in over 100 locations will be able to surf the web using a LTE connection offering transfer speeds 10 to 15 times higher than today's turbo 3G. Stockholm, Goteborg, Malmo, Karlskrona and Lund are the cities where the expansion works will take place in 2010.
