
Telia said it is the first operator in Sweden and indeed the world to provide its customers with free use of social media. It said they can now surf as much as they like on popular networks Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp, Twitter and Kik, without using their mobile internet allowance. The new facility comes in on 18 April.
The Swedish Internet Foundation IIS questioned whether such a move was good for internet neutrality, adding that journalist, commentator and radio presenter Emanuel Karlsten had called the decision a ”stab in the back’ for network neutrality.
