Telia and Telenor start 5G trial operations in Denmark

Denmark's TT Network, run jointly by Telia and Telenor, has announced the start of operations of its 5G infrastrcture, supplied by Nokia. Telia said masts were placed in its Copenhagen headquarter at the end of May and were ready to commence live testing. Telenor said it has activated a mast in Aalborg.

The 5G service will use the 3.5 GHz pioneer band and Telia said TT Network is planning to instal more test sites this summer. Telenor said it would run a pilot among selected customers before testing more masts.

Telia and Telenor will begin launching their Danish 5G service at the end of September following pilots that have been running since June 2019. The two operators offer mobile services in Denmark via a joint venture called TT-Network. The launch will begin in Copenhagen and Aalborg, where existing 5G masts they had been using in their trials, will be made public.

Telenor Denmark achieves 1 Gbps in 5G trial call

Telenor Denmark said it has made its first call over 5G and exceeded 1 Gbps. It said it began its Danish 5G trial in Aalborg in June this year using Nokia equipment and has since been fine-tuning the system. Network strategist Jesper Molbak said it had worked will with its existing 4G network.

Telia names new Danish HR officer as Gruner moves to People & Brands role in new year

Telia Denmark has named Mads Wangen Ohlsen as its head of personnel from 01 November. He succeeds Jannike Gruner, who will continue as COO and head of channels (shops and customer service) until the end of 2019, when she will take up a role with responsibility for People & Brand at Telia Company.

Telia Denmark suffers decline in Q3 sales as subscriber numbers wane

Telia Company has reported a decline in sales in Denmark in the third quarter, but the Danish CEO said EBITDA was satisfactory given the competitive nature of the market. Like-for-like service revenues decreased by 6.0 percent as the company lost mobile subscribers and as ARPU declined, too. Service loss in the fixed segment was mostly in broadband and television.

Danish Business Authority hosts 5G conference on 10 October

The Danish Business Authority said it will hold the '5G Future 2019' conference on 10 October, presenting experience gained in 5G projects in Denmark as well as new business models exploiting the opportunities provided, citing automation and digitisation. Participation is free and anyone wanting to attend should apply by 03 October.

Danish energy authority, engineering association hold 5G innovation contest

The Danish Energy Authority said it and engineering association IDA Connect have set up the 5G Prize and are accepting nominations until 22 September. It said 5G could be used to tackle social problems or climate change. IDA Connect is putting up a DKK 15,000 prize, which will be awarded by Dan Jorgensen, Minister for Climate, Energy and Utilities, at the Tele 2019 conference on 23 October.

Telia Denmark Q2 mobile interconnection revenue falls, loses mobile subscribers and fixed broadband customers

Telia Denmark reported a fall in second quarter net sales after a drop in mobile interconnection revenues. The operator lost 5,000 mobile subscribers and 10,000 fixed broadband customers during the period.

Telenor Denmark Q2 revenue hit by competitive squeeze on customer intake, opex falls 4%

Telenor said revenue in Denmark dropped to NOK 1.20 billion in the second quarter from NOK 1.26 billion in Q2 2018, as competition hit customer intake, and following the loss of a public framework agreement last year. The mobile subscriber base shrank, but Telenor's simplification programme cut opex by 4 percent.

Telenor Denmark lifts Q1 EBITDA by 13% thanks to efficiency programmes, total revenues dip 2%

Telenor said its Danish operation delivered a 13 percent EBITDA improvement in the first quarter, following strong execution of efficiency programmes. The mobile subscription base decreased by 28,000 year on year, partly due to lower sales of new subscriptions, a decline in mobile broadband subscribers, and continued churn of a public framework agreement.

Telia Denmark Q1 revenues drop but local currency EBITDA rises 1%

Telia Denmark reported a decline in first quarter net sales and service revenues but said the figures show it continues to run a stable business. Danish CEO Morten Bentzen said despite a reduced top line, its profits and customer base are largely unchanged, with EBITDA in local currency up by 1 percent. He put this down to its focus on improving procedures and efficiency, boosting customer satisfaction.

Denmark completes auction of 700, 900, 2,300 MHz bands, TDC takes most lots

Denmark has completed its auction of the 700, 900 and 2,300 MHz bands, raising total proceeds of DKK 2.21 billion (EUR 296 million), the Danish Energy Agency announced. All four operators won frequencies in the 700 and 900 MHz band, while market leader TDC took the available lots in the 2,300 MHz band and 700 MHz SDL range.

Telenor, Nokia test 5G capabilities in Denmark in Q2 using AirScale base stations

Telenor Group and Nokia have announced a trial in Denmark of 5G capabilities such as enhanced mobile broadband and low latency communication for commercial applications. They will test 5G capabilities in both the radio access network (RAN) and the mobile core network in Denmark. Nokia will deploy AirScale base stations and test new functions in the cloud core network.
