TeliaSonera CEO may step down early

Lars Nyberg, CEO of TeliaSonera, may step down before his term expires at the end of next year, as the company has already started a search for his replacement. In an interview with the Financial Times, he said he would "adjust to the circumstances" if a replacement is found before end-2013. CEO since 2007, Nyberg has faced increased pressure in recent months in the operator's home country Sweden over TeliaSonera's operations in undemocratic countries such as Uzbekistan and Belarus. The company was forced to announce a strengthening of its policies to defend freedom of expression and privacy
