Telkom informs unions of job cut plans

South Africa operator Telkom has officially informed unions of its management's plans for job cuts, with staff consultation set to start next week. According to MyBrodband News, the union Solidarity said Telkom has officially acknowledged that it is contemplating retrenchment at managerial levels to achieve its goals. The admission came in a meeting with trade unions on 25 April. The South African Communications Union (SACU) has informed its members that Telkom's "management restructuring program" is aimed at improving "decision effectiveness".
