Telkom South Africa moves into financial services through insurance tie-up with Guardrisk

South African operator Telkom has branched into financial services by launching a life insurance business that will initially sell funeral insurance, Reuters reported. Telkom and other mobile operators are seeking to tap more than 11 million people who do not have bank accounts, by offering loan and other financial services, and expanding their mobile payment apps into online marketplaces.
