Telma has announced that 80 percent of the population in Madagascar can now access LTE-A services with speeds described as double that of LTE. The operator said that its first LTE-A site went live in Lazaina during October 2019. At the time, Telma's CEO Patrick Pisal Hamida told the local press that the company had signed a USD 100 million network upgrade contract with Ericsson during the summer. As part of the deal, Ericsson has also been supporting the deployment of new mobile sites, while working with Telma on the evolution to 5G.
