
Telmex and Televisa have won the tender launched by the Ministry of Communications and Transportation (SCT) for the deployment of 1,100 broadband lines at nearly 139 educational and government institutions, research centers and hospitals. The project will see the deployment of 40 high-speed broadband networks in 40 metropolitan areas across Mexico.
Televisa, via its Iusacell and Operbes telecoms units, will provide broadband services to educational and research institutions in 37 of the 40 regions included in the tender, El Universal reports. Telmex will provide internet connectivity in 2 regions.
