Telstra pays fine for slow landline connections

Australian telecommunications provider Telstra has paid the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) an administrative penalty of AUD 510,000 for failing to provide timely new urban landline customer connections in the 2012-13 financial year. The regulator issued an infringement notice to Telstra following its annual assessment of the company's compliance with the Customer Service Guarantee (CSG) benchmarks. There are nine benchmarks, of which Telstra met seven. The two that were not met were: new connections in urban areas with a 88.6 percent performance against a 90 percent
