TelstraClear launches 100 Mbps plans on cable
New Zealand telecommunications provider TelstraClear has launched its fastest broadband service for residential customers yet on its cable network, offering download speeds of 100 Mbps. The company trialled 100 Mbps services in 2010 with cable-connected residential customers but postponed the commercial launch as the company believed there was little market for it at that time. TelstraClear offers a 100 GB plan at 100/10 Mbps for NZD 115.95 per month while a 150 GB plan is priced at NZD 155.95 per month.

TelstraClear withdraws 100 Mbps service in Christchurch

New Zealand communications firm TelstraClear has withdrawn its 100 Mbps internet service in Christchurch and will now no longer roll out the service in Wellington. According to TelstraClear there is no customer demand for the 100 Mbps service. The company began a trial offering 100/10 Mbps in Wellington in September and expected to launch the service in the city in June. New Zealand communications firm TelstraClear has begun a 100 Mbps broadband trial. The trial is being conducted on the company's hybrid fibre-coax (HFC) networks in Christchurch and Wellington. New Zealand telecommunications provider TelstraClear has successfully tested Ciena's 100 Gigabit technology across its core fibre optic cable network between Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.
