TelstraClear trials 100 Mbps services

New Zealand communications firm TelstraClear has begun a 100 Mbps broadband trial. The trial is being conducted on the company's hybrid fibre-coax (HFC) networks in Christchurch and Wellington. TelstraClear recently upgraded the networks to Docsis 3.0 technology in a NZD 10 million project. The trial of 100 Mbps to the home has been announced in a series of billboards in Wellington, which light-heartedly suggest communications minister Steven Joyce can relax and put his feet up because ultra-fast broadband is already coming to town next year. Those trialling the new speeds will be invited to relay their experiences on www.warpspeed.co.nz providing followers with candid feedback on the service. They'll also chart their thoughts and ideas on how the speeds could be utilised across the UFB network once it is built.
