Telstra's gigabit LTE network goes live, with new router

Telstra's gigabit LTE service has launched in a number of central business districts in Sydney, with more areas set to follow. The commercial gigabit LTE network was introduced in cooperation with Ericsson, Qualcomm and Netgear. Telstra also unveiled the Nighthawk M1, a gigabit LTE router from Netgear which will become available to consumers in Australia in late February.

In addition to gigabit LTE speeds on the downlink, Telstra's new network capability also delivers up to double the previous uplink speeds. Telstra said it was the first globally to launch 600Mbps download speeds in September 2015.
