Telus challenges govt spectrum policy in court appeal

Canadian operator Telus has requested a judicial review of the government's policy to limit the sale of spectrum to incumbent operators, Reuters reports. The move follows Telus' attempt to acquire the smaller operator Mobilicity, which was abandoned after the government said larger operators such as Telus could not acquire more frequencies from the newer entrants on the market like Mobilicity, which have struggled to gain sufficient scale and have started looking for buyers. Telus argues that when Mobilicity bought the spectrum in 2008, it did so under the understanding it could sell those
