Tencent, China UnionPay strike mobile payments partnership deal - report

Tencent and China UnionPay have agreed to integrate their QR code systems. Following this agreement, the two partners will unify the mobile codes that consumers scan to pay for purchases, Bloomberg reports. Tencent and UnionPay customers will be able to transfer or spend money using the same smartphone symbols, writes state media Caixin, citing unnamed sources.
