Thai senate committee asks NTC to up 3G starting bid

A Thai senate committee has asked the regulator to increase the starting bid price for the three 3G licences that are set to be auctioned in September. The committee has asked the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) to change the starting bid price to THB 30 billion, instead of the THB 12.8 billion the NTC decided on, the Nation writes. The NTC board recently approved the 3G licensing plan, including the starting bid price of THB 12.8 billion. The price had already been revised upwards from THB 10 billion in the original draft plan. NTC commissioner Natee Sukonrat said the regulator is unlikely to change the price in the draft plan which will be gazetted at the end of this month.
