Thailand drops spectrum cap, hikes price for 1800MHz auction

The telecom committee of Thailand's National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission approved an increase in the minimum starting bid for each of two licences on offer in the 1,800 MHz band to THB 15.912 billion, The Nation reports. It also removed from the draft auction rules the proposed cap on total spectrum holdings of each operator. Takorn Tantasith, secretary-general of the NBTC, said the removal of the 60MHz spectrum cap followed an agreement by DTAC to hand over 5MHz of the spectrum it holds in the 1,800MHz band for the auction.
