Thailand sets mobile spectrum cap at 50 MHz per operator

Thailand's Information and Communications Technology Ministry and the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) have agreed on a bandwidth ownership cap for operators. The cap has been set at 50 megahertz of bandwidth per operator. The decision applies to both private and state-owned operators in Thailand. This mobile spectrum ownership cap is designed to ensure that small operators can obtain bandwidth at the upcoming spectrum licence auction. The government thus hopes to increase competition for the three incumbent private players, local newspaper The Nation reports,
