Thailand to compensate state agencies that free up spectrum

Friday 27 March 2015 | 13:28 CET | News
Thailand's National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) has proposed a special fund to pay compensation to state agencies that agree to transfer bandwidth to the NBTC to be reallocated by auction, local newspaper The Nation reports. According to secretary-general Takorn Tantasith, the NBTC had proposed to the Council of State that this provision be added to the draft of the new Frequency Allocation Bill. Under the proposal, the NBTC would transfer the money it receives from up-front licence fees paid by successful bidders into a fund from which to compensate state agencies.
