Thales, Veolia start making SIM cards from recycled plastic

Wednesday 24 March 2021 | 13:39 CET | News
Thales and Veolia said they have jointly created the first SIM card made from recycled plastic, in a special industrial production process that will eliminate the need for nearly 5,000 metric tonnes of virgin plastic a year. They said nearly 4.5 billion SIMs were produced worldwide in 2020. The Eco-SIM Card will help Thales and the mobile phone operators that use its products to achieve their sustainable development objectives.
