The Things Network starts LoRa network in Amsterdam

The Dutch start-up The Things Network has rolled out a LoRa network in Amsterdam in order to offer M2M services to consumers and businesses. The non-profit started by Wienke Giezeman and Johan Stokking noted that the network was rolled out in just six weeks and is already providing services, without the need for a telecom operator. The LoRa technology covers much further distances than Wi-Fi, of around 10km, while offering capacity of 0.3-50 Kbps for low-bandwidth applications. The first users include the company Trakkies, which takes advantage of the GPS features of the network to help find
