Three operators bid for two blocks of 3G spectrum in France

Free Mobile, Orange France and SFR have submitted bids to French telecommunications regulator Arcep for additional 3G frequencies. The country's fourth mobile network operator, Bouygues Telecom, did not. The spectrum comprising two blocks of approximately 5 MHz duplex in the 2.1 GHz band was left over when Free Mobile took up only 5 MHz, rather than the 15 MHz its competitors were allocated, when it won its mobile licence in January. Arcep said it would now examine the bids, based on its previously outlined procedure, and expects to announce a result before the end of May. Interested parties
