TI creates ad-hoc division for FTTH rollout - report

Telecom Italia has created an ad-hoc division to oversee its "Fast Rollout FTTH" project to bring fibre-optic services to 40 Italian cities by 2017, according to a report in Il Sole 24 Ore. Although no details have yet been released about the cities involved and the exact timing of the deployment, a long-standing company executive, Carlo Filangieri, has been appointed head of the division. In the light of Telecom Italia's recently announced plans, the government is set to reopen its consultation with operators on broadband development, having already approved a EUR 6 billion plan to
