Tigo Tanzania launches 4G network
Tigo Tanzania announced the launch of its 4G network. The network is initially available in the Masaki and Mlimani districts of Tanzania's capital city Dar Es Salaam, and it will be extended to cover the city in full as well as the regional capitals of Arusha, Moshi, Dodoma, Morogoro, Mwanza and Tanga by August. Tigo General Manager Cecile Tiano said the launch will make Tigo by far the biggest 4G network in Tanzania. Tigo recently announced plans to invest USD 120 million on its network expansion and improvement during 2015. The investment includes scaling up its 3G sites and fibre network countrywide.

Tigo Tanzania has launched its LTE services in Arusha, northern of Tanzania. David Zacharia, Tigo Head of Data and Devices said that Arusha being the host city of many international organizations and a hub for tourism is a prime business segment for Tigo. Arusha subscribers using Tigo SIM cards can now join others in Dar es Salaam who were connected to LTE in April. Tigo Tanzania says Gutierrez returns as general manager

Tigo Tanzania has announced that Diego Gutierrez is resuming as General Manager, following the completion of the tenure of Interim General Manager Cecile Tiano. Tigo said Tiano had considerable success, including the launches of Tigo Music and the 4G network. Gutierrez's knowledge of the business and the market allows for a seamless business transition. Prior to his time with the company's mobile money division in Latin America, he had been Tigo Tanzania's general manager for three years.
