TikTok, FB, Twitter, Google consider pausing operations in HK in light of new security law

Tuesday 7 July 2020 | 08:54 CET | News
Global video sharing app TikTok has decided to exit the Hong Kong market soon, Reuters reported, with a company spokesperson saying the move follows China's new national security law for the city. "In light of recent events, we've decided to stop operations of the TikTok app in Hong Kong," the company said, adding that it will also not comply with requests made by the government to censor content or for access to TikTok user data. The company said it has so far not been asked to do so.
