TIM begins EUR 3 mln Bagheria FTTH rollout

Monday 19 April 2021 | 10:45 CET | News
Telecom Italia (TIM) said it has reached an agreement to begin rolling out a fibre-to-the-home network in the town of Bagheria near Palermo in a total investment of EUR 3 million. The company said the build will eventually enable residents in around 15,000 homes to access the internet at download speeds of up to 1 Gbps, up from the current maximum of 200 Mbps. TIM's existing FTTC network in Bagheria covers around 17,500 homes, equivalent to some 95 percent of the town lines. Rival Open Fiber completed its Bagheria rollout earlier this year.
