TIM denies reports of EUR 74 mln government fine

Telecom Italia (TIM) has denied reports in the Italian media that the government has fined it a total of EUR 74.3 million for flouting golden power rules. The company had been expecting a fine of up to EUR 300 million for failing to notify the prime minister's office that French media group Vivendi, TIM's top shareholder, had taken over de facto control of what the government viewed as a strategic national asset. In its statement, TIM said it hadn't been formally notified of the fine and that it had appealed against the allegations on grounds that it hadn't taken decisions involving the
