TIM, Ericsson claim 20Gbps speeds in 5G mm-wave antenna trial

Telecom Italia (TIM) and Ericsson have reached connection speeds of 20Gbps during a trial of 5G millimeter-wave technology in Turin. In a statement, the operator said it activated the first 5G antenna with millimetre waves in Italy in a trial conducted at Turin's Politecnico university, hitting what it claimed to be the maximum speed reached by the new technology in an urban context. The test used the 28 GHz frequency band and marks the latest trial conducted in partnership with the city of Turin and companies including Ericsson and Qualcomm Technologies to build the country's first 5G
