TIM fined nearly EUR 1 mln for privacy breaches

Wednesday 30 May 2018 | 10:14 CET | News
Italy's data protection authority, Garante Privacy, has fined TIM (Telecom Italia) a total of EUR 960,000 for two breaches of personal data rules. The watchdog said it fined the operator EUR 800,000 for erroneously billing a single user for 826 fixed lines and EUR 160,000 for a data breach dating back to 2013. TIM replied that the anomalies in its IT systems were remedied some time ago and that it has since further strengthened its guarantees to protect customer data in compliance with the current legislation.
