TIM ready to abandon Canal Plus joint venture - report

Telecom Italia (TIM) is preparing to abandon a broadcasting joint venture with Vivendi's pay-TV unit Canal Plus, according to an unnamed source cited by Reuters. The operator last month announced that it was re-negotiating the content deal reached with Canal Plus in October after receiving a letter from stock market regulator Consob and criticism from its auditors and independent directors over the involvement of its leading shareholder Vivendi.
