TIM set to switch off 3G network in 2022

Monday 22 March 2021 | 09:42 CET | News
Telecom Italia (TIM) is preparing to follow Vodafone and switch off its 3G network by next year, reports Mondo Mobile Web, citing the company's newly-published 2021-23 strategic plan. The aim is to gradually decommission the 3G network to free up spectrum for 4G-LTE with a view to enhancing both 4G and 5G in the future, said TIM, adding that its UMTS licenses in the 2100 MHz band are set to expire on 31 December 2021.
