TIM small shareholders' association to back single network plan only if operator secures control

Asati, the minority investors association of Telecom Italia (TIM), said that it would support the government's plan for a single high-speed fixed broadband network only on the condition that the operator had full control of the venture. According to press reports, several scenarios are under consideration to enable the creation of a new entity that would combine TIM's fibre-based infrastructure with the FTTH network assets owned by wholesaler Open Fiber. In its statement, Asati emphasised that it sees no alternative to TIM, and that the national priority should be to defend the industrial
