Gubitosi was keen to confirm that TIM’s network has the capacity to cope with the surge in traffic driven by a healthcare emergency that has prompted millions of Italians to embrace remote working and online learning. “TIM’s network is well-built. It is very solid and stable and can hold additional traffic with no problems,” said the chief executive, adding that traffic had increased by almost 100 percent on fixed infrastructure and 30 percent on mobile networks.
He also said TIM had eliminated bottlenecks to strengthen interconnection with the company’s Sparkle international network and increased redundancy points for greater security, among other measures.
