Time dotCom to invest USD 44 mln in AAE-1 submarine cable
Malaysian fixed-line operator Time dotCom expects its total investment in the AAE-1 submarine cable system to reach USD 44 million, the company said in a statement. The investment includes a landing station and 1.88 Tbps of capacity on the system. The AAE-1 submarine cable will connect Asia to Europe through the Middle East, with landing stations planned for Hong Kong, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, Thailand, Myanmar, India, Pakistan, Oman, UAE, Qatar, Yemen, Djibouti, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Greece and France. A total of 17 companies will take part in the initiative. The construction of the submarine cable system is expected to start in the second quarter, and the completion of the project is expected to occur in 2016. Under the agreement to deploy this infrastructure, Time dotCom will act as the terminal party to the AAE-1 system landing in Malaysia.
