TIP kicks off trials of OpenWiFi software

Wednesday 12 May 2021 | 16:40 CET | News
The Telecom Infra Project (TIP) has confirmed the launch of OpenWiFi Release 1.0. Based on the previously developed OpenRoaming standard, the new open-source software looks to open up the Wi-Fi equipment market and make it easier to develop interoperable and customised systems. The fully disaggregated Wi-Fi system is expected to include access point firmware, an open-source AP network operating system and a SDK to build cloud-native Wi-Fi controller software for service providers and enterprises.
