Toshiba narrows bidders for semiconductor ops - report

Monday 10 April 2017 | 08:48 CET | News
The number of bidders for Toshiba's semiconductor business has been narrowed from the 10 original interested parties to a smaller group of bidders, including Taiwan's Hon Hai Precision Industry (Foxconn) and and Korea's SK Hynix, Bloomberg reported, citing sources familiar with the matter, who said that Silver Lake Management and Broadcom were also still in. The offers, still non-binding, are at about JPY 2 trillion (USD 18 billion). The Japanese government is unlikely to allow the sale to Hon Hai or Hynix because of the strategic value of Toshiba's technology, the sources said.
