Toshiba to build memory fabrication facility in Kitakami, Japan

Toshiba has announced that it is going ahead with its plan to build a memory fabrication facility in Kitakami, in Japan's Iwate region. Toshiba Memory Corporation (TMC), a subsidiary of Toshiba, will establish a company to operate the facility, and plans to invest nearly JPY 7 billion in site preparation and initial construction work in FY2017. The new facility will produce BiCS Flash, TMC's flash memory, and will be TMC's seventh fab.
