Toyota, University of Michigan team up on driverless cars

Toyota announced plans to open a third research facility at the University of Michigan (UM) to advance its work on driverless cars, reports the Wall Street Journal, citing Gill Pratt, the director of the Toyota Research Institute. Last year Toyota announced an investment of USD 1 billion to expand its research in autonomous driving at centres set up in collaboration with Stanford University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Pratt clarified that the UM campus will be responsible for fully autonomous cars, the Stanford campus will be working on partially autonomous and the MIT
